Running Back Chris Johnson will be heading to New York in 2014.

ESPN.com’s Adam Schetler reports that the New York Jets have agreed to a two-year contract with former Tennessee running back Chris Johnson. Johnson, is most famous for his 2009 campaign where he accumulated over 2500 yards from scrimmage. 2,006 of these mentioned yards were acquired on the ground. Since then, CJ2K has posted 1,000+ yard efforts every season since. Most recent, Johnson rushed for 1,077 yards and 6 Touchdowns and 345 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns on 45 grabs in 2013. Notably, Chris was the focal point of an anemic Titans offense and still managed to produce RB1 output from a PPR perspective regardless.

This acquisition will help both Johnson’s and the Jets cause in 2014. Johnson will split ball-carrying duties with Christopher Ivory, spearheading the New York Jets rushing attack. The Jets hope to commit to a run heavy style of offense with quarterback Geno Smith still learning the ways of the NFL and with newly signed quarterback Michael Vick specializing in the run as a mobile signal caller. A run heavy style of play will help the Jets open up their passing game and hopefully set their marquee signature Eric Decker loose on opposing secondaries. Look for CJ2K to see approximately twenty touches per game. He will see about five to ten targets per game as a receiving option and approximately fifteen to twenty rushes. Gang Green has made strides to improve their offensive line and with these improvements, look for CJ2K to have another 1,000+ season with another 500 yards through the air. His stock has certainly risen on fantasy boards with this recent announcement.
