16 million for DeSean Jackson?

The Washington Redskins now have a new offensive weapon in the form of all-pro receiver, DeSean Jackson. At 16 million guaranteed for the first year, it seems again that the Redskins are opening the wallet to bring problem children to their team. Now I don’t think that DeSean Jackson is a problem child, but they always do seem to be spending a lot of money on people that have had problems on other teams. I personally like Jackson, he’s a playmaker, a speed receiver ,can return kicks to the house, and runs better routes in the last few seasons than he has in his first couple.
So let’s put a fantasy value on this; weather its PPR, standard scoring, or auction, he’s going to bring you points. If you’re running a dynasty league and have Jackson, you might want to start trying to make plays to get him in order to value trade him (Redskins fans in your league should eat him up).
Now I have no problem with the Redskins, but the one thing I do know is until that offensive line gets shored up a little bit then it doesn’t matter how good your receivers are, because RG3 had no time last year. Jackson is a good number one for Washington with Pierre Garcon. Defenses will have to stay honest now because of the trio of Jackson, Garcon, and third year back Alfred Morris and they will not be able to play the run only. Last season stats for Jackson were excellent, but I can’t believe he will repeat that. Seems like ownership just bought them a Pro Bowl receiver who will not be as successful in that offense as he was in Philadelphia.
If you were lucky to have Jackson last year, (I got him in the seventh round) someone will grab him before that this year. Look elsewhere for a Jackson type receiver in 9 to 11. If you’re in PPR, Julian Edelman should be there. If you’re in standard scoring, there should be a lot of players available.
So did Washington overpay for the receiver or will he give the same production as he has in the past when he was healthy?
In retrospect, this puts Maclin as a nice pick up late. If he is healthy, then he is talented enough to make a huge splash with a low price.
